ISABELLE

Isabelle didn’t know where she was when she woke up. The room was dark and the bed unfamiliar. She sat up, and the memories of the day came rushing back. The dress fitting. The accident. Declan.

He’d washed her hair for her. He was slow and careful of her bandaged forehead, utterly attentive. It was a far cry from the dismissive man she met at dinner last week.

Glancing on the alarm clock on the nightstand, she saw that it was just after midnight. She wasn’t sure when she went to bed, but it felt like she’d been sleeping for hours. Her headache had faded as she slept, and when she swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood, there was no wave of dizziness. She almost felt like she was back to normal.

Turning on the lamp, she made her way around the bed and toward the door. Her throat was dry after sleeping for so long, so she figured she could find her way to the kitchen. She’d been a little unfocused earlier when she arrived, but she was pretty sure that she remembered the kitchen and living room set up being an open concept.

She walked down the short hall that led her to the living room. There was light coming from a floor lamp in the corner of the room, so she had no trouble seeing where she was going. Her attention was focused on the kitchen, but as soon as she stepped out of the hallway, the sound of her own name being moaned in a husky voice drew her eyes to the couch. She stared in shock as Declan stroked himself, his face twisted in pleasure as he came, spilling his seed onto his stomach.

She gasped, her thighs clenching together as she imagined him coming inside of her instead. She ached for it.

Declan’s eyes flew open, and he smirked when he saw her watching him. There was no embarrassment or even hesitation as he beckoned her closer. Her feet carried her across the room to where he was, and she stood looking down at him. He grabbed his blanket off the floor and used it to wipe his stomach clean before tossing it aside carelessly.

“What are you doing here?” he asked.

There was a deep seductive tone to his voice, and she couldn’t help noticing that he was still erect, despite the climax he’d just experienced.

“I was thirsty,” she said, licking her lips. His heated gaze seared her, and she was suddenly very much aware of the fact that she was only wearing his T-shirt. She didn’t want to put on her dirty underwear after her bath, so she decided to go bare underneath the T-shirt. It fell to her upper thighs anyway.

“You should go back to back. You need to rest.”

His words surprised her, and she decided she wasn’t going to comply. Not after what she’d just walked in on. Instead, she gave him a flirty smile as she gripped the hem of his shirt and pulled it over her head, exposing her naked body to his gaze.
